House Rules
In the past, we’ve had a dozen or so different house rules. We’re still using those house rules, but they won’t be published for all to see. Instead, for the sake of the main page, they’ll be summarized here.
I. Firearms: Guns still exist. In order to fire weapons properly, you need the Firearms Weapons Proficiency feat, which gives you proficiency with all of the firearms in the world. Those of you seeking to play gun slingers can download the firearms PDF, which will be available soon.
II. Death and Resurrection: Resurrection spells work differently in Mystara. You can download the death and resurrection PDF if you want specifics.
III. Diplomacy: The diplomacy table has changed to give it greater complexity.
IV. Dying and Unconsciousness Rules: When you drop to 0 hit points, you are disabled and can only take move actions or suffer a hit point of damage. When you drop to a negative number of hit points equal to your Con modifier, you go unconscious and start losing a hit point of damage each round until you stabilize. When you drop to a negative number of hit points equal to your Con score, you die.
V. Skill and Feat Retraining: You can retrain skills and feats you no longer want. When you level, you can remove a number of ranks from any one of your trained skills up to a maximum of the skill points you get from your class (not counting racial bonuses or intelligence bonuses) and put them into another skill. Or, you can choose a feat you no longer want and remove it from your list. You get an additional feat the next level, with the only caveat being you can only choose a feat you would have qualified for at the time you took the original feat you lost.
VI. Spell Focus: Spell focus grants a +2 bonus to your DC; greater grants a +4; epic grants a +6.
VII. Mordenkainen’s Disjunction: Doesn’t exist as written. Instead, use true dispelling.
VIII. Allowed Sources: You may draw from the following:
* Player’s Handbook (Exception: Sorcerer, which has been rewritten), Player’s Handbook II
* Dungeon Master’s Guide, Dungeon Master’s Guide II
* Expanded Psionics Handbook
* Monster Manual I – IV, Fiend Folio
