State of the Blog

Man.  Cob-webby. Let me get the dust cleared out of here a second and… there.

Ok.  So.  Been a while.  I can hear the echoes in the chamber now… no reason for any of you to have stuck around.  There’s been really nothing to see here for a while now.  But… well, more on that later.

I can make excuses why I haven’t written… tell you things have been fine… perfectly content… yaddi yaddah.  All that would be true, to a point.  But the fact is, this blog was a huge part of my life, and now it’s sorta just there hanging on like an appendix.  It had a function once, but that’s long forgotten now.  Well… no longer!  The buck stop here dag nabbit.  It’s time to man up and take responsibility for things.

So what have I been up to…

Since I last wrote on the blog I have:

1) Grown a Van Dyke.  I dislike facial hair in general, but I wanted a change.  I can’t get past the itchy phase with full grown beards (I have very irritable skin) and so I decided to stick with as much facial hair as I can tolerate.  I also can’t grow a full lock.  I like it for now, and would rather keep it than go full shaved again.

2) Suffered an eye infection, which then cleared up, only to return again, casing an ulcer in my eye, which has now left a scar on my cornea, causing me to have double vision out of my left eye.  This might be permanent.  I’m seeing an ophthalmologist (the getting of which was an adventure in and of itself) and we’re hoping steroid treatment will help clear the scar tissue, as opposed to a more radical surgical route.  On the worse news front, I haven’t been able to wear contact lenses in two months.

3) Managed to continue breathing, and in a week, the planet Earth will have rotated another year since my birth.

So things haven’t necessarily been all uppity up.  But they haven’t exactly been down either.  I would regard the temperature of my life currently as comfortably lukewarm.

Which is why we’re tossing things up a little.
