Six Words
Two old men sat and remembered.
That Was Great
Tonight’s Galactica (Exodus, Conclusion) was the best Galactica episode of the season.
At least, so far (given that we’re 4 episodes in, that’s not such a difficult task, but damn was it good.) Holy freaking Christ. It was also the best big battle in two seasons. (Easily of all three seasons.) Galactica doing that stunt with the jump before dropping her fighters had me jumping out of the couch hollering at the television and later giggling in full geek squee. The Pegasus jumping in to save Galactica’s ass, while predictable, was also gorram cool.
The last few scenes also were suitably heartbreaking: Kara in her shock and solitude after learning she’d been terribly manipulated and everyone ignoring poor, old, broken Saul Tigh as they chant Adama’s name in triumphant glory… such a resounding statement that the true heroes of Galactica are broken and flawed.
I’m wondering what the hell’s going to happen to Baltar. I’m not sure if he left with the humans or if he left with the Cylons. I think it might be the latter, though it would be cool if it were the former. I don’t like the new screwed-up Baltar. I much prefer the old screwed-up Baltar – at least he was funny! Now his squirmyness is just sad and pathetic.
Lots of good, series-altering things happen in the episode, I’ve only touched upon a few of them. Oh. The best thing about the episode: Adama cuts off that stupid moustache. I mean, seriously.
Four and a Half Weeks
The end is coming… of work, of course. I will then return to PR to visit with the family, and hopefully get back in the swing of writing in the blog full swing.
By the by, if you guys (for whatever reason…) miss my writings, I’ve been writing fairly regularly (about once to twice a week, which is more regularly than I have been here, as this is my second post in October – apologies again!) you can always check out the Mystara Clog. It’s entirely fiction/Mystara/D&D related, but 1) I’m not the only person writing, 2) there’s some decent quality stuff going up and 3) I’ve got several new pieces up. (I’m “TheDM”).
Anyhow. Four weeks and three days left to my work. I’ll miss it, in the way one misses these things. Work is fun, incredibly so. Moreso than I would have given it credit for (about 10 times as fun as working at ENDI, or ENDI.com; twice as fun as working for RITS.) But I’ll also be glad to have the free time that classes allow.
You see, in class, I tend to have two or three really busy days, followed by five or so not so busy days. When working, I have five really busy days, then the weekend. I’ll leave the math up to you :).
And, if I’m allowed one last gripe, the schedule of classes for next semester is terrible. Bad – really, really bad. There’s almost nothing I wish to take. Which is disappointing.
I live
I’m writing to inform everyone I yet live. Not to imply there have been any attempts at my life – if they were, they were extremely pathetic – but to simply say that I have not written simply because I haven’t much had the energy to. Which is bad; bad discipline, bad style, bad form. Writing is like a muscle one needs to exercise every day. But the truth of the matter is I get home around 6:30 or 7:00 and I feel like laying on the couch until it’s time for bed. Which is often what I do.
Which is odd, because work isn’t exactly physically strenuous. Nor is the ride home on the subway. It’s just mentally tiring.
I’m sure there are stories, but I can’t recall them. I shall write of them once the mood strikes, but for now the mood is one of not writing, and of simply sitting down at the couch to watch some television. Which, I might add, I have a lot of television to watch, having just received the Extended edition of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I’m currently going through with cast commentary. Might report later, once the sojourn is complete.
